EORH Performs First Surgical Case in New Facility 09/18/07 First Surgical Patient Welcomed at
new EORH Surgical Center
MARTINS FERRY--Wednesday, September 5 marked a new era in healthcare for eastern Ohio residents as East Ohio Regional Hospital completed its first surgical procedure in its new $12 million surgical center.
“We are thrilled, excited and confident as we embark on this new day for East Ohio Regional Hospital,” said Anne E. Hellstern, Associate Administrator at EORH. “We’ve been planning and working toward this day for a long time and we are happy to share it with the community.”
The center opened for business with a light schedule as employees adjusted to the new facility. Shantell Norman of Clarington was honored as the first patient. Her procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Cross, Chief of Surgery at EORH.
“We felt very strongly that Dr. Cross should perform our first procedure,” Hellstern said. “He has provided us with incredible insight and support throughout this project.”
The surgical center is a 95-thousand square foot facility built adjacent to the main hospital campus with both inpatient and outpatient components.
