Prevention and early detection are sometimes the best medicine, so Ohio Valley Medical Center has announced Blood Pressure and Cholesterol screening dates for 2007 to promote better health in the Ohio Valley.
Ohio Valley Medical Center will host a Blood Pressure and Cholesterol screening on February 22, April 26, and September 27. OVMC’s screenings are held in the main lobby of the hospital. The screening will be from 9:00am to noon and 1:00pm - 3:00pm.
Screenings are open to the public and there is a $5.00 fee for Total Cholesterol and a $10.00 for a HDL /Cholesterol screen. Blood Pressure checks are free. No registration is required.
A desired value for Blood Pressure is less than 120/80 and a total Cholesterol level below 200 is considered desirable. For high-density lipoproteins (HDL) levels in men and women should be 45 or greater. Total Cholesterol and HDL ratio for men and women should be 4.5 or less.
On April 26, 2007, OVMC will conduct the OPALs (Older People with Active Lifestyles) free cholesterol screenings. The screening is free to OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital OPALs members and will be held from 8:00am to noon and 1:00 – 3:00pm at OVMC. OPALs members do not need to make an appointment to have your cholesterol checked. A $5.00 fee is charged if you choose to also have your HDL/Cholesterol checked. Please bring your OPALs pin or membership card with you to the screening.
