Ohio Valley Medical Center will host a Prehospital Trauma Conference on Monday, January 29, 2007. The Prehospital Trauma Conference is for all Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, Nurses and Physicians in the Ohio Valley. The conference will be held in the Nurses’ Residence Auditorium at OVMC with registration and dinner at 6:00pm and the program beginning at 6:30pm.
The program will feature a presentation entitled; “Time is Neurons" Assessment and Management of the Acute Stroke Patient, presented by Todd Crocco, M.D., WVU Department of Emergency Medicine, Interim Chair of the WVU Department of Emergency Medicine and Co-Chairperson of the WV Stroke Pilot Project.

The program will cover the time constraints of current stroke treatment regimes, an overview of the Prehospital Cincinnati Stroke Scale and a discussion of what prehospital providers can do to educate the public on stroke awareness.

The Prehospital Trauma Conference is part of the Joint Community Trauma Program of Ohio Valley Medical Center and Wheeling Hospital. Both trauma centers serve as a regional resource for trauma prevention and trauma education for physicians, nurses, prehospital and other health providers. The Joint Community Trauma Program serves Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Tyler, Belmont, Harrison, Monroe, Jefferson and Washington counties in the greater Ohio Valley.
